Finding a digitized manuscript in the digital library, as in this example DigiVatLib. The name of the manuscript is the Manuscript of deacon Luka, written in 1445. This manuscript contains different texts, all of them translated from the Old Czech language to Old Croatian.  The text is digitized and available online on https://digi.vatlib.it/view/MSS_Borg.ill.9.

Transcription of the text written in the old script to the modern script. In this example that includes transcription of the old Croatian script, Glagolitic script, to the modern Croatian Latin script. The text is long, 81 folios, and it was first transcribed into a Word document. The title of the text is Zrcalo člověčaskago spasenja.

Transfer of the text from a Word document to XML. Organizing the structure of the document, division into chapters and subchapters, adding headings, and titles; organizing the text of the document according to the layout of the manuscript's image, and dividing the text into lines and columns. Using the Transkribus tool (Recognize the layout) to create a layout of the text and using the possibility of the automatic extraction from Transkribus to TEI (with the little corrections). The element was automatically added in extraction, I had to manually revise it and add attribute for the break in the middle of the word.

TEI Header was created using the COREMA project as a model. It contains all the important metadata about the digitized text, manuscripts, authors, editors of the edition, bibliography, etc. This information will be used for the digital edition and the Infolink ABOUT.  Thus, the data will be displayed with the digitized edition.

The ODD schema was created using ROMA ODD-Editor for customization of the TEI document.  Elements, Attribute Classes, Model Classes, and Datatypes used in an edition were collected and elements important for text modeling were described.

Selection of the TEI elements for text annotation on the macro and micro level in TEI-Body. 
Macrostructure of the text: chapters => titles =\> , Layout of the text: , , Microstructure, text modeling: illegible characters =\> , elements used to model revisions: ~~,~~, , , , . changes made by the editors =\> the element , the attribute @reason provides more detailed information: 'damaged' scribal errors =\> ...... The selection of the elements was inspired by COREMA project created at ZIM-ACDH Graz.~~~~

Each folio of the manuscript was connected with the manuscript's image, which is preserved in the Vatican library. The manuscript sign. Borg.ill.9 from DigiVatLib was ingested via IIIf protocol on the GAMS server.

Setting up the standard ingesting workflow for the repository object. An adaption of XSLT style sheet for extraction of Dublin Core and METS metadata. For the XSLT stylesheet, the common stylesheet used for the COREMA and other projects on the GAMS was used. 

After the creation of the digitized text, connection with the manuscripts's facsimiles, adding of the description and metadata, and adoption of the XSLT stylesheet, the digital edition / digital object was published on the GAMS as the scholarly digital edition (now still as a beta version).

This workflow shows how to create a complex digital object, a digital edition of text written in a historical manuscript. In the edition, the text is presented in a parallel view with the manuscript's image and enriched with metadata.
