Music Encoding Initiative from MusicXML

The Music Encoding Initiative is an open-source language to encode musical scores in a machine-readable structure. Its main strong point lies in the management of various metadata and its capacity to code the framework and the semantics of music works. In addition to these technical specificities, the MEI is perfectly proper for FAIR principles. In order to convert a MusicXML in MEI format, several ways are possible. This workflow aims to describe best practices, step by step, to preserve the initial file and to get a correct MEI. This workflow is suitable for both common Western notation and modern transcription of ancient works (Renaissance and Middle Ages).
