The Pactols Thesaurus
Controlled, standardized and multilingual vocabulary for archaeology, from prehistory to the contemporary period and for the sciences of antiquity in all their aspects.
Pactols is a reservoir of controlled and multilingual keywords.
If it serves historically the indexing of the CCI (Frantiq's indexed collective catalog), its richness and its scalability seduced other communities. For several years, it has been used as a thematic repository for diversified resources (academic journals, scientific databases, heritage enhancement programs).
It was created by Frantiq (Federation and Resources on Antiquity constituted as a CNRS Service Group no. 3378), which brings together around fifty units CNRS, services of the Ministry of Culture, archaeological museums, local authorities and other public establishments.
It was developed with the support of MASA consortium, Memory of archaeologists and archaeological sites.
The SSH Open Marketplace is maintained and will be further developed by three European Research Infrastructures - DARIAH, CLARIN and CESSDA - and their national partners. It was developed as part of the "Social Sciences and Humanities Open Cloud" SSHOC project, European Union's Horizon 2020 project call H2020-INFRAEOSC-04-2018, grant agreement #823782.
